Many of the stereotypes and defaults are pretty well ingrained, and people can (at least initially) be defensive about what they see as "politically correct" objections.<BR/><BR/>I agree that a large part of the solution lies in getting the problem out in the open; otherwise, creators are less likely to be thoughtful in their approach to gender and more likely to employ sexist tropes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
